Bryan
Rasmussen was born in Tucson, Arizona and raised one of six children
in Colorado Springs, Colorado, He migrated to California where
he broke onto the L.A. theatre scene with his critically-accaimed
portrayal of the troubled Alan Strang in “Equus” at
the CAST Theater, garnering Drama-Logue and LA Weekly awards. After
receiving his B.A. in Theatre from Cal State Long
Beach,
he attended both the American Coservatory Theatre in San Francisco and South
Coast Repertory on scholarship and was a company member when SCR won the
Tony Award in 1985. At SCR, he appeared in “Henry IV Pt.1”, “The
Play’s the Thing”, “
Romeo and Juliet”, “The Fitness Game”, and played Young
Scrooge in their acclaimed “A Christmas Carol”. Other theatre
credits include the
world premiere of “A Voyage to Arcturus” as a member of the Odyssey
Theatre Ensemble,
the American premiere of the 8-hour saga “Merlin” at First Stage,
and
the West Coast premiere of “Burkie” at the International City
Theatre.
Mr.
Rasmussen has also received international acclaim for his solo play based
on the life of Vincent van Gogh; “Sincerly Yours, Vincent” playing sold-out
shows
at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu and at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland.
He also starred as Dr. Stockmann in “Enemy of the People”, which
won him
another Drama-Logue award, as well as in “Rimers of Eldritch”, and “He
Who Gets Slapped” with the acclaimed Singular Ensemble in Culver
City.
In addition to acting, he’s also an accomplished director, producer,
and teacher.
Founder of the Itchey Foot Cabaret, he produced over 50 projects
there, including 20 world premieres. He also created the Mask Training
Program for the Opera Conservatory at the Los Angeles Music
Center and also has taught at the Adam Hill Studio, South Coast
Repertory.
Baron/Brown Studio, Macker Entertainment, The City of Gardena,
with his present residence being at the Piero Dusa Acting Conservatory
in Santa Monica.
Bryan has completed extensive study with some of
the theatre world’s most prominent talents including the
late Jose’ Quintero,
Jagienka Zych of the Polish National Theatre, William Chow of
the Peking Opera, Libby Appel of Ashland Shakespeare, Ada Brown
Mather of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Yuri Belov of the
Moscow Art Theatre, and Christopher Swaja
of the Berliner Ensemble.
Film credits include, “Hunter’s
Blood” with Billy Bob Thornton,
Sam Raimi’s cult classic “Army of Darkness”, “Liberty
and Bash”, and independent films “One Slim Dime”,”Making
Contact”, and “Sex
and a Girl” which he also asst. produced . On T.V., Bryan guest-starred
(re-curring) on “The Court”,“ER”, ”Alias” as
well as “The
X-Files”, “JAG”,”Strong
Medicine, “Beverly Hills 90210”, “Walker;Texas Ranger”,
with his most recent appearance being on ”Presidio Med” as
well as currently recurring as CTU Agent Ed Miller on the hit series “24”with
Kiefer Sutherland. His voice-over work includes , “City Slickers
2” and Disney’s “A Goofy Movie”. He also
recently re-teamed with Billy Bob Thornton, starring in his music video “Starlight
Lounge”.
